This stately, regal residence lies gracefully above Victoria Road in Clifton, one of the most desirable areas along the Atlantic Seaboard. Situated up high on the lower reaches of the mountain, this classic villa can only be accessed via a funicular. It goes without saying that Clifton Villa is one of our most private, venerable 3 bedroomed villas.
Step out of the funicular and you’re welcomed by large wrought iron doors, which give the impression of this being a rather palacial villa fit for royalty. Here nature combines elegantly with the infrastructure of the villa, ensuring guests are treated to surrounding sea views while being cocooned in fynbos vegetation. The expansive balcony and crystal clear swimming pool literally “hangs over” the whole of Clifton. The views here are exceptional.
From the fine wooden table carvings to the Buddha statues and delicate patterns throughout, the villa could easily be mistaken for a classic Oriental boutique hotel. With flashes of intricate floral designs, curtains with gold tie-backs and wing-back chairs, Clifton Villa certainly is grand.
The entrance hallway leads into the dining/lounge section furnished with wicker dining chairs and plush couches. Tiles resembling marble have been carried throughout the main area to the outdoor patio and reflect the flecks of subtle gold accents of the décor.
To the right of the hallway is a small guest bathroom and to the left the kitchen. Wooden cupboards and generous down lighting create a great work space and the serving area opens through into the main area; letting in both the light and views.
An intriguing heavy-wooden carpeted staircase leads up to three bedrooms. The first bedroom is an adequate twin room served by the bathroom across the hall which is equipped with a shower. The main room could be mistaken for a presidential suite within a hotel. The entire room is open plan and the deep set, romantic bath is on a raised four-poster platform with a walk-in shower behind the bath. Designed to make the most of the sea views from all angles, this room is fit for royalty. On the right is another main bedroom with an intimate balcony area equipped with patio furniture for two. The bathroom is separate, offering privacy.
Restaurants and beaches of Sea Point and Camps Bay are a five minute drive away in either direction. The Clifton Villa is not ideal for guests who suffer from Vertigo and who feel uncomfortable riding on a funicular.
